Join ASPA’s expert Presenters as they provide you with straightforward and effective tools to assist in your creation of a Show-Stopping (and stress-free!) performance. Read on as we delve into the content covered in the ‘Show-Stopping School Concerts’ Teacher Professional Development Workshop and how we can assist you in creating an impressive show for your school community!

Content

The Workshop will begin with a physical and vocal warm-up, where teachers will learn a handful of exercises they may wish to use with their students at the beginning of a class or rehearsal. Then participants will move through a series of sessions focusing on presenting and selecting repertoire, planning for a concert or performance, audition techniques, rehearsal strategies and skill-building activities. Participants will also dive into all things choreography! They will learn how to create simple movements, deliver clear dance instructions and learn two routines.

“The Show-Stopping School Concert Workshop covers the numerous aspects of putting on a production or concert. From conceptualisation, planning and repertoire selection all the way up to the staging and running of a performance day.” – Tash Findlay, ASPA Education Program Administrator

There will be plenty of time throughout the day to network with other teachers who may be in a similar situation and discuss your ideas for upcoming shows. Each participant will receive a booklet to take home that includes warm-ups, activities, music and digital resources. By the end of the program, we aim for teachers to feel confident and well-equipped to take on their next performance project.

For Sydney teachers, this workshop is a NESA Elective PD, which meets Standard Descriptors 6.2.2, 2.1.2 and 7.4.2. This can contribute 5 hours towards Elective PD at the Proficient Teacher career stage. You will receive a certificate upon completion of the Workshop.

“I really enjoyed singing and dancing – so fun! The wealth of knowledge that the presenters possess – amazing! I also loved networking with other PA and Music teachers” – Carlie, Parkhill Primary School

“Throughout the day participants will have the opportunity to discuss their upcoming projects with our experienced presenters and receive simple and effective advice to their queries.” – Tash Findlay, ASPA Education Program Administrator
