Jane Curphey was initially involved with the Australian Girls Choir as a sounding board to her mother and AGC Founder, Judith, during the creation of her new choral enterprise in 1984. This role was formalised with the establishment of a Proprietary Limited company in 1989, with Jane as Company Director and Judith as Artistic Director.
For 30 years Jane’s dedication and strategic business skills helped enable this organisation to walk the fine line between artistic credibility and financial viability. Jane was enthusiastic about delivering programs in schools and the broader community and was proud of her role in developing ASPA into a well-regarded, self-sustaining arts education organisation and also being a founding Director of Girls from Oz.
She will be remembered for her courage, honesty and conviction. In honour of Jane’s commitment to providing opportunities for girls and in recognition of her passion for travel, we will provide the Jane Curphey Memorial International Tour Scholarship annually.
